Tools and Methods

Everyone has their favourite tools with which they are most productive. However, in order to work together within a group, it is helpful to have a common subset of tools with which all members are familiar. For our group, these are:

Software

• Inkscape (SVG file format) for vector graphics (signs, illustrations, floor plans)
• Python and PyQt5 as a general purpose programming language and GUI library
• jupyter Notebooks for analyzing and communicating
• markdown
• the Bash shell for scripting simple tasks (especially: GNU make, GNU rename)
• Seafile for sharing documents
• DokuWiki as a Wiki and CMS for the website

Please install this software and take some time to get comfortable with it.
